Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" place. The West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar of its purpose. Many people believe that it's an island located west of Montreal however it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the cities of Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief stay did not last long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be a dancer but an increase in her height meant that she literally outgrew the dancers she was with. In Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of an instructor in drama at high school which led her in the right direction. Her teacher invited her to audition for a part in the school's production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the lead character for Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has landed roles on over 60 shows on both small and large screens. She attracted the most media attention after she was offered the character as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel played the role of the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was filming over 10 years ago.
